Episode 44: The Erymanthian Boar

For this week's episode, join host Kaitlyn McCluskie and guests Alana and Christine to try to solve the mystery of The Erymanthian Boar by Agatha Christie!

This short story appears in The Labours of Hercules short story collection, where Hercule Poirot endeavours to solve his final twelve cases that will each share a resemblance to the labours of Hercules from the Greek Myth. 

In this story, Poirot finds himself in Switzerland heading to the top of a mountain aboard a funicular. He is contacted by the chief of police and asked to keep an eye out for a criminal on the loose by the name of Marrascaud. What will happen next? Listen to find out!

The story centers around a painting that Mr Satterthwaite has just bought from a young artist named Mr Barlow. The painting is intriguing because the focus of the painting, is a dead Harlequin that looks very similar to Mr Satterthwaite's friend Mr Quin... Listen to find out what happens!

This book is the first in the Maisie Dobbs series and not only has a mystery for our main detective to solve, but it also gives us the background of her life. Maisie Dobbs grew up in England before the First World War and was part of the service class. In 1929 she is starting out at her own detective agency to try to help solve peoples problems. In this week's episode of the Tuesday Night Mystery club we are back to celebrate Valentines day with another couple! Join host Kaitlyn McCluskie and guests Emily and Conner as they try to solve the mystery of N or M by Agatha Christie.

 

This is another Tommy and Tuppence story, where this time the couple are in the midst of the second world war. They are both feeling restless when the British army is not interested in their service, citing that they are "too old". Tommy gets lucky when he is asked to help fight the 'Fifth Column', or in other words, the enemy from within. However, he is told that he is not allowed to tell Tuppence. What will he do?
